Buffalo Purchasing Initiative

The Buffalo Purchasing Initiative (BPI) is a business cooperative for Buffalo’s large employers to explore strategies and share resources to expand purchasing opportunities with small businesses in the Buffalo Niagara region, and to create a more expansive and inclusive economy for all.

Overview

BPI has a bold plan to build a more prosperous future by increasing our spending with the local small businesses that are going to fuel our region’s economic success for years to come.  As business cooperative, we expand local purchasing opportunities through data sharing and analysis, programming and networking.  By sharing resources and ideas, BPI members are creating connections and finding new ways to increase their capacity to support small businesses.

BPI is focused on:

  • Leveraging our members collective demand and purchasing opportunities to create local jobs and employment opportunities
  • Building community and best practices for inclusive procurement
  • Understanding the specific needs of our members and connecting them to qualified vendors and providers
  • Building long term relationships with small business owners
  • Working with business support organizations to find new ways to support and strengthen local small businesses

Purchasing opportunities with our members span a range of industries and services. Please fill out this form if you own a business headquartered in the Buffalo Niagara Region, have less than 100 employees, and you are interested in learning more about how to work with BPI.

Please contact Program Director, Mauricio Canton Diaz at: mcantondiaz@buffalopurchasing.org with any questions about the BPI.

Members

The BPI currently includes 15 member organizations that have committed to increasing their spend with local small businesses.

Partners

BPI members work in partnership with the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation and the Buffalo Niagara Partnership (BPI’s fiduciary). BPI’s community partners are valued thought leaders and collaborators working to maximize the impact of this effort.
